Used cars for sale in Liverpool and the surrounding towns
We have used cars for sale in the following areas: Liverpool, Wirral, St Helens and Southport. All second hand/pre-owned vehicles offered for resale come from local motor dealers. Some dealers specialise in one make, others carry a wide ranging stock of cars.
When buying a used car you should always buy from a reputable dealer. Ideally this should be a used car company that has been trading for a number of years or has been recommended by someone you know.
Before you start to actively visit used car dealers you should decide how much you are willing to spend, both in terms of the overall amount and, if you are taking finance, the monthly repayment.
You then need to decide how you want to buy the used car. If you buy a resale from one of the many main dealers in and around Liverpool (often referred to as pre-owned vehicles) then you will in most cases be buying a model with full service history, reasonable mileage for the year and the best guarantee/warranty. However, buying a second hand car from a main dealer will usually be the most expensive, if safest, route.
If you buy a car from a general used car dealer, ie one stocking many makes of vehicle, then you will be presented with quite a range of ages, mileages, service histories, vehicle conditions etc. You will receive at least the guarantees laid down by law for all car dealers and may be offered, or will be able to purchase, enhanced warranties.
These used car dealers will offer prices below those of the main dealers and if you are prepared to shop around you could find the ideal car at the right price.
If you choose to buy a second hand car privately then the seller is not obliged to offer any guarantees other than ensuring the car meets the description in the advert (or any answers they give to your questions - though this would be your word against theirs). It is a case of 'buyer beware' - the onus is on the buyer to determine if the car is of an acceptable standard and the price is fitting.
